What is furlough on which Gurmeet Ram Rahim came out of jail, how different from parole?

The Haryana government has given 21 days furlough to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He was lodged in Rohtak's Sunaria jail in Haryana. Furlough is like a vacation. Even on parole, prisoners come out of jail for some time. In such a situation, the big question is what is the difference between parole and furlough. According to the report, there is a difference between parole and furlough. Convicted prisoners are given concession in two ways. First parole and second furlough.

What is furlough, first understand it?

Furlough and parole are two different things that are understood to be one and the same. Like- furlough is given to those convicted prisoners who are serving their sentence for a long time. The period of furlough is seen as an exemption from the prisoner's sentence and his right. It can also be given without any reason. The purpose of granting furlough is so that the prisoner can meet the family and the people of the society. Can get treatment for any kind of disease in the body or deal with its effects during long time in jail.

What is Parole?

In parole, a convicted prisoner is released with certain conditions. It is for a specified period of time. Even after looking at the conduct and record of the prisoner, it is decided whether to send him on parole or not. Apart from this, he also has to report from time to time which proves that the prisoner has not run away. It is considered a corrective process. That is, in a way, the prisoner is given a chance to reform. The states of the country have their own rules regarding parole. For example, in Rajasthan, the initial parole is given for 20 days; Second for 30 days and third for 40 days. Thereafter the prisoner can apply for permanent parole.
